The horrific conditions of nonhuman animals, especially in the food industry, are unimaginable. Not only do they suffer in the physical sense, but the psychological torment they had to endure is simply unforgivable. Humans just numb themselves from the fact that these animals are sentient and very much aware of what is being done to them- and yes, even those who were allegedly "humanely slaughtered".
